The eagerly awaited Elton John commercial for Britain’s John Lewis department store has been released and serves as a mini-biopic of Elton’s life. Set against various versions of his 1970 breakout hit “Your Song,” it starts with a modern day Elton playing an upright piano, and using computer graphics, morphs Elton’s face onto previous incarnations of the “Rocket Man” going back through the decades before ending up showing him as small boy on Christmas morning — being presented with the exact piano he’s playing as an adult. Elton was paid a reported $6.5 million to star in the commercial.
