Sometimes Halloween decorations cause unnecessary police reports, but now a family’s Christmas decoration has really freaked out a neighbor. The Heerlein family of Austin, Texas decided to enter their annual neighborhood Christmas decorating challenge, and put up a display paying homage to the scene from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” where Clark Griswold hangs from the roof of his house while trying to put up Christmas lights.

They got a dummy and dressed it up before hanging it from their roof, and placing a ladder that looked like it was tipping over underneath. A day later, the family’s Nest Cam video caught footage of a passerby who saw the display and started desperately trying to save the “man” he thought was hanging off the roof.
