Chicago places twice on ‘Best Hotels and Resorts in the World’ list

The next time you have friends or family visit, you might want to recommend these hotels…and maybe even crash their rooms!  Condé Nast Traveler, the travel website, have released their massive list of the best hotels and resorts in the world.  Their list of more than 50 locations included two right in our fine city.  The Peninsula and The Robey both made the list.

About the Peninsula, CN Traveler said, “Bedrooms were always large for downtown Chicago but feel even more spacious now, thanks to clever ship-cabin cabinetry… But it’s the in-room tech that’s the true knockout here, with all sorts of ingenious smart-home conveniences. From the bathtub, one touch on the ‘Spa’ button will soften the lighting, stream in a not-at-all-annoying soundtrack, and activate the do-not-disturb sign… Try and tear yourself away from your room to check out Green River for craft cocktails and Gibsons for steaks. Abundantly comfortable, smooth as hand-embroidered silk but never too sleek, the Pen is far and away Chicago’s top-dog hotel.”

CN Traveler also had some kind words about The Robey: “Taking up residence in Northwest Tower, The Robey jostles alongside artisanal coffee shops, independent boutiques, and pop-up restaurants in Chicago’s creative corner between the hipster neighborhoods of Bucktown and Wicker Park… The real head-turners, though, are the collection of bars and restaurants, not least the curbside Café Robey, which hums from the first plate of eggs and hash browns in the morning to last call at night… Barely two years old, The Robey has already shaped up to be a hotel heavy hitter in this heavy-hitting town.”
