Study suggests we should stop drinking coffee first thing in the morning

Coffee can certainly wake you up, but a new study finds the best time to drink it isn’t necessarily in the morning. Scientists say this is because when you first wake up your body’s production of the stress hormone cortisol is at one of its three daily peaks. So consuming caffeine while your body is at peak-cortisol production teaches the body to produce less cortisol, which isn’t good because cortisol helps us be more alert. Instead you should wait until you’ve been awake for about an hour before having that first cup.
