Labrador Retriever most popular us dog breed for 28th year

Americans are continuing their love affair with Labrador retrievers. New data from the American Kennel Club (AKC) reveals the breed is the most popular dog breed in the U.S. for the 28th year in a row. After labs, the top five breeds across the country are: German shepherds, golden retrievers, French bulldogs, and bulldogs. Fans of the lab credit the breed’s generally friendly nature and ability to do many canine jobs well, such as being a bomb-sniffer, service dog, and more. The rankings reflect a breed’s prevalence among over 500,000 puppies and other purebred dogs newly registered to the AKC in 2018; over 88,000 of those dogs were labs.
