Your lakeside stroll is going to get safer.  The City of Chicago has announced that they will combat Lake Michigan flooding with hundreds of yards of jersey barriers.  The action comes as Lake Michigan has been reaching record water highs.

Instillation began last night (Tuesday, September 10th).  You may notice construction the new barriers taking place along Lake Shore Drive.  Construction is taking place along the iconic street from Oak Street to North Avenue and at Fullerton Avenue.  According to CDOT, Juneway Beach, Rogers Beach, Howard Beach and Granville Street will also receive flood barriers.
