Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo

Coinciding with the Health and Fitness Expo that takes place Friday and Saturday (October 11th & 12th) at McCormick Place, The Chicago Marathon kicks off in Grant Park bright and early at 7:30AM.  The race will end there as well and be followed up with a party in Butler Field.

Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest

With a haunted house for older kids and adults and Fun Barn for the whole family, there’s something for everyone at the old pumpkin farm.  Bengston’s features all sorts of activities included pig races, a pumpkin chucker, rides, a petting zoo and more haunted fun!

Basement of the Dead

Head down the creepy, creaky stairs to the spooky Basement of the Dead.  This suburban haunted house calls itself, “America’s scariest haunted house!”

Statesville Haunted Prison & City of the Dead

You’re going to jail in this haunted experience complete with 23 haunted rooms.  This prison of the dead is SO scary, that children under 10 are not allowed and those under 15 require an adult!

ACE Comic Con Midwest

A comic convention on the pier, complete with celebrities, comic creators, panels, venders and more!

The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival

has trick-or-treating Fri., a 5K run/walk Sat., costume contests Sun., carnival rides, vendors, pumpkin carving, and a wall of lit pumpkins

Scarecrow Fest

Vote for your favorite handmade scarecrow at Scarecrow Fest, which includes entertainment, arts & crafts, food vendors, and a carnival

Chicago Campfire Festival
October 12th
Chase Park
Gather ’round the campfire for this fest that features everything you’d expect around the fire, including roasting marshmallows, s’mores, ghost stories and hot cocoa.  There will be various other activities and the 1993 Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus will play on a large screen for an audience.

Harvest Fest
October 12th (12 to 6 p.m.)
Fischer Farm in Bensenville
This outdoor fest has so many fun activities for families including a petting zoo, live entertainment and a craft sale.

Boo at the Zoo

Brookfield Zoo
Even the animals are celebrating Halloween!  You and your family can come in costume and trick-or-treat at the zoo, take a hay ride, get lost in a corn maze and see the many animals Brookfield Zoo has to offer.

Spooky Pooch Parade

Chicago Botanic Garden
The garden is welcoming all dogs in the park one day only for this fun and free event.  Pet owners can participate in the parade and there is also a pet costume contest.

Columbus Day Parade

State Street (from Wacker to Van Buren)
One of Chicago’s biggest parades kicks off this coming Monday!  The free Columbus Day parade celebrates Italian-Americans and a certain explorer with a fun-filled parade with bands, floats, balloons and more!
