Hollywood is OUT OF CONTROL with all these reboots and remakes. The latest VICTIM of this craze is the classic 70’s/80’s series, Fantasy Island. The original saw guests come to the mysterious island and live out what they think are their fantasies courtesy of Mr. Roarke (played by the late/great Ricardo Montalbán) and his sidekick, Tattoo. Roarke’s intentions were to always teach guests life lessons through their stay on Fantasy Island. Well, Hollywood saw this as an opportunity to make a HORROR movie out of it.
Admittedly, some guests did parish in the original series but that was always due to their own negligence and unwillingness to learn… and it wasn’t creepy or gory! So, let’s see what this new version has to offer. Hopefully nothing that causes Montalbán and Hervé Villechaize to spin in their graves! (By the way, there is no sign that Tattoo will be in this movie…)
Fantasy Island (2020) starring Michael Peña, Maggie Q and Lucy Hale hits theaters Valentine’s Day next year.
