Mackay in the Morning

Scott Mackay is a 27-year radio veteran who started his life in New London, Connecticut on August 16th, a place far away, a time long ago!
At just 6 years old, Mackay begged his Mom for the microphone and speaker from the Sears Wish Catalogue. It was there that his one man show began, singing all his favorite songs to the best audience a mirror could offer.
At the ripe old age of 11, Mackay would wait out in front of his Chesterfield, New Hampshire home on Saturday mornings at 4am, for the disc jockey from a local radio station to pick him up. The Plymouth Duster would then head to the radio station where Mackay would pick out 45's for the D.J. to play.
That was the start of a life-long career that has taken Mackay "from Boston to Denver and every town in between." (Lyrics stolen from Barry Manilow's "It's a Miracle"). After 20 years in radio, Mackay finally found his permanent home in the best city in the world, Chicago! It just doesn't get any better than this.
"Radio is my life! There are very few people in the world who can say, 'I loved every day of work for the last 27 years.' Even on the days I got fired, I learned that a better job is always waiting...it's up to me to find it! Without question Chicago's 94.7 FM, True Oldies is the best thing that has happened to Chicago radio in a long time."
For hobbies, Mackay will hit the links any chance he gets, and his favorite activities include shoveling in the winter and washing the cars in the summer. "Honestly, I'm an idiot for tedious chores."
Mackay invites you to wake up with him every weekday morning from 5am-9am. He'll keep you up-to-date on all the things you missed while the sandman did his nighttime dance, and our news team, will bring you the latest headlines, traffic, weather and sports.
