Iconic “We Are Siamese” song rewritten for new Lady and the Tramp Disney+ Movie

If someone comes up to you and says “we are Siamese if you please” – There is a good chance you would reply with “we are Siamese if you don’t please.”

The original Lady and the Tramp was released in 1955, and Peggy Lee recorded the song “We Are Siamese” for the film. Peggy Lee voiced multiple characters for the animated feature, including the Siamese cats Si and Am. While the song has been around in pop culture for over 60 years, it’s been deemed by some as culturally insensitive.

The new 2019 live action Lady and the Tramp will hit Disney+ today (November 12th) without the iconic song, but on the same streaming platform the 1955 animated version of Lady and the Tramp will also be available with the original “We Are Siamese” song intact. Families can watch both versions and decide which one they enjoy more.

Do you think the original We Are Siamese song is problematic like some journalists are claiming? I personally never thought anything of the song, just that it’s catchy and iconic… And pretty damn hilarious in the original movie. Hit us up on Facebook and let us know what you think!
