JOAQUIN PHOENIX is having a good year. Sure, he was passed over for Sexiest Man Alive AGAIN, but he went from the mega-success of “Joker” to being named PETA’s Person of the Year.
Phoenix is a staunch supporter of animal rights, and he’s been a vegan since the age of three, when he saw a fish get caught and gutted on the deck of a ship. PETA says, quote, “Joaquin Phoenix never misses an opportunity to turn the spotlight away from himself and onto animals’ plight and to set a great example of walking the vegan walk.”
Past Person of the Year winners include Pope Francis, Oprah Winfrey, Anjelica Huston, Olivia Munn, Eva Mendes, and Alicia Silverstone.
