Vaccine rollouts and declining coronavirus cases have got many in Chicago optimistic about summer events in the city… including Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

NBC 5 Chicago released a statement from Christine Carrino of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s press office: “While we are not formally planning nor permitting events at this time, our COVID-19 indicators continue to trend in the right direction and we are hopeful that some events that align with health guidelines may be possible later this year.”

Well, SUMMER is later this year and with the city already easing restrictions on restaurants and bars, it’s beginning to seem possible that we could see massive summer events like Lollapalooza and the Taste of Chicago returning in some form other than online!
