The world’s most famous White Sox fan will be honored with a specialty giveaway at Chicago’s Rate Field later this year. On Aug. 11 against the Reds, the White Sox will be giving away a limited number of pope-themed hats with a special ticket package — shaped like the Pope’s miter with a White Sox logo on it — to fans lucky enough to receive them.

Pope Leo made the waves in the baseball and White Sox world last year with his various connections and affinity for the team. After the revelation that he was a White Sox fan and attended their last World Series — Leo sat in Section 140, Row 19, Seat 2 for the 2005 Fall Classic’s first game — the club installed a visual tribute near section 140 last May.

And last July, when the White Sox celebrated the 20th anniversary of that 2005 World Series team, Paul Konerko — one of the best players and the de facto captain of that ‘05 squad — was presented with a special White Sox No. 14 jersey signed by Pope Leo XIV.

The National Confectionery Sales Association announced Thursday that Chicago was selected as the permanent home for the 60,000-square-foot, multi-level experience.

The new candy venue will be housed at 830 N. Michigan Ave., with Chicago beating other cities, including Orlando and New York City, to be named the new home. It is expected to open in summer 2027.

“Chicago’s longstanding role in confectionery manufacturing, innovation and trade helped distinguish the city in the selection process,” a release from the National Confectionery Sales Association read.

The Chicago area serves as headquarters for a number of major candy brands.

“For more than a century, Chicago has been home to some of the most iconic names in American candy, including Ferrara, Mars, Brach’s, Tootsie and Wrigley. Even Milton Hershey found his chocolate inspiration in Chicago at the 1893 World’s Fair,” Shelly Clarey, chairman of the NCSA, said in a statement. “Establishing the Candy Hall of Fame Experience here reflects the city’s deep connection to the industry and creates a home to celebrate the people who helped build it.”

Few details have been released on what exactly the new experience will include, but according to the release, the new “permanent exhibition destination” will be “dedicated to the history of the confectionery industry and the individuals recognized through the Candy Hall of Fame.” It will also “highlight iconic candy brands, industry milestones and the innovators behind them.”

“Candy carries joy across generations,” Janet T. Planet, chief “wondermaker” for the Candy Hall of Fame Experience, said in a statement. “Our goal is to give that joy a place – one that celebrates imagination, invention, and the shared delight people feel when they encounter something sweet.”

To start an order, customers can ask Alexa+ to browse certain restaurant options, like Italian or Mexican food. If you have a specific restaurant in mind, you can use Alexa+ to jump directly to the eatery.

A display window will open on the device that will show your order. The order on the screen will update in real-time if you switch your order mid-conversation, modify an item or decide to order two burgers instead of one.

Alexa+ will only jump in if you have a question about the menu or need help placing an order.

Customers can ask for items like “meat lovers’ pizza,” which will prompt Alexa+ to find the closest match on the menu, or say, “Show me desserts” for a look at the dessert menu.

A summary of one’s cart – including item names, quantities, individual prices and total cost – will appear on the screen before the customer confirms the purchase.

Consumers can check on the progress of their food delivery at any time by asking, “Alexa, where’s my food?”

Amazon customers need to link their Uber or Grubhub accounts to their devices through the Alexa app before placing orders. Linking their accounts will also allow them to reorder previous meals.

The new food delivery service has started rolling out across Echo Show 8 and larger devices.

Amazon said the new way of ordering food is just the latest stepping stone in creating a more natural, conversational voice assistant instead of the typical call-and-response model for tasks like grocery shopping and travel planning.

The Cubs, celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2026, are seeking participants for the “Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge.” The winning cookie recipe will be served at Wrigley Field during the Cubs 150th Anniversary Celebration on Aug. 29.

The winning baker, meanwhile, will receive on-field recognition, Cubs 150th anniversary merchandise, a Cubs chef jacket and apron, home baking supplies and two tickets to a regular season home game.

Cookie connoisseurs can submit their recipes at cubs.com/cookies through 12:59 a.m. ET on May 1. Only amateur chefs can enter, and you must prove your Cubs fandom by sharing your favorite team memory or a photograph of you in Cubs gear.

Chicago-based pastry chef and restaurateur Mindy Segal will lead the judging, which will evaluate recipes based on taste, creativity and feasibility of production at Wrigley Field.
