Happy Birthday, Keith Richards!!!

Happy Birthday to Rolling Stones co-founder Keith Richards, who turns 74-yearsold today (December 18th)!!! Richards, a man who due to his previous penchant for hard street drugs wasn’t expected to see 30 — let alone 70 — has often infamously topped numerous “Most Likely To Die Lists” over the years. Last month, the Stones were nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album for their 2016 covers collection, Blue & Lonesome, which peaked at Number Four on the Billboard 200.

Released on December 1st was The Rolling Stones – On Air — the band’s first official album featuring selections from their 1963 to 1965 BBC radio performances. Highlights on The Rolling Stones – On Air include live in-studio takes of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “The Last Time,” “It’s All Over Now,” “The Spider And The Fly,” “Cry To Me,” “Confessin’ The Blues,” “Route 66,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Memphis, Tennessee,” “Mercy, Mercy,” “Mona,” “Around And Around,” “Walking The Dog,” “Crackin’ Up,” “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” and the Lennon/McCartney-written “I Wanna Be Your Man.”

The Stones recently wrapped their latest European tour — with whispers that UK and possible North American dates are in the planning stages for 2018. Keith Richards said that luckily, the Stones are all in great shape for their age and pretty much always road ready: [“I think everybody basically keeps themselves in pretty good shape. Nobody’s get any, any problems at all — minor or major, I think. It’s. . . in a way, I think it’s good for me.”

September 2015 saw the release of Keith Richards’ third solo album — and his first in 22 years — titled, Crosseyed Heart. Joining him on the set were his X-Pensive Winos bandmates — guitarist Waddy Watchel and chief collaborator, drummer Steve Jordan, Sara Dash, and Ivan Neville — along with longtime Stones associates Blondie Chaplin and Bernard Fowler.Crosseyed Heart marked the highest charting album of Richards’ solo career, hitting Number 11 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album’s lead single, “Trouble,” went all the way to Number 20 on the Billboard Adult Alternative chart. Crosseyed Heart, which sailed to Number One in Austria, reached the Top 10 on the Belgium, Danish, Dutch, Italian, New Zealand, Norwegian, Swedish, Swiss, and UK album charts.
