The head of toy company MGA Entertainment, whose products include Bratz dolls and Little Tikes, is trying to save Toys ‘R’ Us from the planned shutdown of all its stores by using a GoFundMe. Issac Larian set up the GoFundMe page to try to buy part or all of Toys ‘R’ Us.
He and investors donated $200 million of their own money when they launched it last week, and set a goal of $1 billion by today (May 28th), but so far they’ve only raised $51,000 on top of that. The page urges donations by saying: “Toys ‘R’ Us is on the verge of permanently closing its doors. It feels like the end of an era, with sad headlines spreading across news and social media, BUT there is still time to save this American icon — and you can help. . . . Your donation will help to ensure that generations to come can ‘always be a Toys ‘R’ Us kid…'”
