CTA’s new 1000 new HD cameras are on the way

The City of Chicago will be watching your back… with 1,000 new high-def security cameras!

Mayor Emanuel is increasing the number of security cameras to 4,800, and it’s not just at CTA Rapid Transit stations, “When we did the order of the new buses, there are three cameras on every new bus and a camera as the bus pulls away from its drop-off which I think is 150 feet. So, it’s not just trains, it’s also buses in the security system that we’re putting on.”

An additional 3,800 cameras will be upgraded.  City Hall says security cameras on the CTA system have helped police charge more than a thousand suspects since 2011.
