Macy’s is latest data breach victim

Macy’s is the latest retailer to be hit with a data breach, with the department store chain confirming that some of its customers could have had their information accessed between April 26th and June 12th. Macy’s has written to inform affected customers that an unauthorized third party potentially gained access to their personal information and credit card details. The information could include first and last names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and birthdays.

Macy’s hasn’t said how many customers were impacted, but told Business Insider it was limited to a small number of customers shopping on Macys.com and Bloomingdales.com. Those shoppers will be offered customer protection services at no cost. Macy’s said they have fixed the issue that allowed the breach.
