Happy anniversary to MTV which signed on the air this day August 1, 1981. Yes, this was the era when they really played Music Videos! I was fortunate to watch the MTV sign on that day and was totally amazed by what I saw including the VJ’s. The first song played was “Video Killed The Radio Star” by the Buggles. NOT TRUE, because I’m still here.
I can even tell tell you the second video played was “You Better Run” by Pat Benatar from the “Roadie” movie Soundtrack.
The radio station I worked for in the 1980’s did many promotions with MTV and it was a great marriage to showcase new music.
