Modern technology is expensive, but some insist on having the most up-to-date smartphone. A poll of 2,000 British parents found that 20 percent said their child demands a phone upgrade every eighteen months. More than half of parents said they struggle to keep up with the cost of the pricey phones, and 80 percent feel under pressure to make sure that their child has the latest gadgets.
Also, 37 percent admitted that they save all year to ensure their children have the newest technology, and 38 percent have opted to buy their child a refurbished phone rather than a brand new one. A different study found that 75 percent of parents said they paid up to $640 for their child’s first phone.
