You may notice your commute taking longer. As train switches succumb to freezing temperatures, trains are having to slow down to accommodate. They are currently running at a max of 65 mph (14 miles less than the usual). On the positive side, the trains are heated and if you look out your window, you might see flaming train tracks: Metra’s way of warming the tracks which looks really cool.
