Award-winning author from Flossmoor Illinois, Nnedi Okorafor will take on the spin-off series of one of the most popular movie characters of 2019. Okorafor, known for her science fiction, is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants. Her latest novel, “Who Fears Death,” is slated to become a new HBO series.
Okorafor will be writing a series that follows Black Panther’s younger sister, Shuri, who was played by Leticia Wright in both the Black Panther film and Avengers Infinity War. About Shuri and her upcoming comic, Okorafor told ABC 7 Chicago, “Shuri is an awesome character. She embodies so much: She’s powerful, she’s flawed, she’s a technological genius, she’s an engineer, she’s young and she’s sassy.” So she definitely sounds like the lovable and cool character from the film!
