More than 3,000 U.S. babies named after ‘Game Of Thrones’ characters last year

Game of Thrones is so popular that parents are naming children after its characters, with more than 3,000 babies born in the U.S. last year named after characters from the show, according to a list tweeted out by NBC News’ Joe Murphy of information from new data from the Social Security Administration. “Arya” was the most popular name by a lot, given to more than 2,500 babies in 2018, making it the 119th most popular female name of the year. Coming in second was “Tyrion,” the name given to 58 babies, followed by “Brienne” (33 babies), “Jorah” (30 babies) and “Sansa” (29 babies).
