Dressbarn is the latest brick-and-mortar retailer to succumb to the pressures facing the industry in the age of online sales, saying yesterday (May 20th) that it’s going out of business and will close all 650 of its stores across the country. The women’s apparel chain goes back more than 50 years.
A wind-down process will begin, during which stores that remain open and the website will continue to operate as normal for now. Dressbarn is owned by Ascena Retail Group, which also owns chains including Ann Taylor, Loft, and Lane Bryant.
