32-year-old Orlando Hernandez was driving down I-88 in west suburban Oak Brook on Monday when his back right tire blew. He lost control of his truck and flipped it, slamming into a concrete barrier.
His truck ended up on the side of the road, upside down and he couldn’t get out because the roof and doors were caved in. A bunch of construction workers, and off-duty firefighter and others ran in to help. Around a dozen people worked together to lift the truck up onto its side.
The off-duty firefighter helped smash out the windshield and cut Orlando’s seatbelt. Paramedics showed up and Orlando was able to walk away from the scene, just fine.
