Road closures and what you can’t bring to Lollapalooza

Whether you’re going to Lollapalooza or just spending time in the Loop, you may be affected by the massive concert event.  Road closures are already in effect even though Lolla doesn’t begin until Thursday, August 1st!

You’lll want to avoid Balbo and Jackson between Michigan and Columbus through Monday, August 5th.  Today, more closures begin including Columbus from Monroe to Roosevelt, Columbus northbound from 13th to Roosevelt and Monroe eastbound from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive.  These also last through Augusts 5th.  Finally, on the big first day of Lollapalooza, Monroe westbound from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive will be closed.

If you are attending the 4-day concert fest, you should be aware of what you can’t bring with you into Lollapalooza.  Leave the body bags at home because bags must be no bigger than 14” x 11” x 5.”  Lollapalooza is a smoke-free event.  That means no cigarettes, E-Cigs or Vaping devices.  If it rains, you’ll be short on luck: no umbrellas are allowed in the event.  And leave those frisbees at home!  You can see the rest of the items not allowed by clicking here.
