Have you taken a flight this year? Today (August 9th) is predicted to be the busiest day for flying, worldwide, for 2019. More than 17 million passengers are expected to take to the skies aboard over 115,500 flights. Analytics firm Cirium makes this prediction, and says that by the end of August, the worldwide departures for July and August will total almost seven million, with approximately a billion people flying.
The busiest airlines for these two summer months are predicted to be American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and Irish carrier Ryanair. As far as predictions for the busiest airports, Cirium names those in Beijing, Atlanta, Dubai, Los Angeles, and Tokyo-Haneda. These predictions come as air passenger traffic continues to grow year over year, with 2019 set to be one of the busiest years for air travel on record.
