When MTV announced the nominees yesterday, July 30th, for this year’s Video Music Awards, there were two new and unique categories — Best Quarantine Performance and Best Music Video from Home.
Those videos have been on the rise since the pandemic began. Musicians everywhere are performing right from their houses along with their band mates. One of my favorites of the year was when Dave Mason, Sammy Hagar, Mick Fleetwood and the Doobie Brothers remade “Feelin’ Alright.”
The VMAs are going to be held as scheduled on August 30th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but there will either be no audience members or a limited number, and performances will take place at various locations across New York City.
