Here are the most popular baby names in the U.S. for last year and one name that is at an all-time LOW

The Social Security Administration just released its annual data on the most popular baby names of the year.  For 2019, the most popular name for boys was Liam, the same as 2018.  The most popular name for girls was Olivia, which was number two in 2018.  Emma was number one in 2018;  it was number two last year.  You can see the top 1,000 boy and girl names at the SSA website.

The 10 most popular boys names in 2019 were:

  3. Oliver
  4. William
  5. Elijah
  6. James
  7. Benjamin
  8. Lucas
  9. Mason
  10. Ethan

The 10 most popular girls names in 2019 were:

  1. Olivia
  2. Emma
  3. Ava
  4. Sophia
  5. Isabella
  6. Charlotte
  7. Amelia
  8. Mia
  9. Harper
  10. Evelyn

Meanwhile, according to the latest data from the Social Security Administration, the name “Karen” dropped from 637th most popular for girls in 2018 to 660th in 2019.  That’s the lowest ranking it’s had since 1929!

What does “660th most popular” mean?  Only 438 newborn girls in the U.S. were named Karen last year.  The name Karen peaked in 1965 as the third most popular name for girls.
