1/4 of people are planning on trick-or-treating this year and THESE are the costumes they’ll likely be wearing

According to a new survey by the National Retail Federation, 23% of Americans say they’re still planning to take their kids trick-or-treating this year.  That’s down from 29% last year.  The survey also found 53% of people plan on decorating their homes, which is up from 49% last year.

About half of people are still planning to dress up this year which pretty much the same number of people who dressed up last year.

The 10 most popular costumes for kids are:

  1. Princess
  2. Spider-Man
  3. A superhero
  4. A ghost
  5. Batman
  6. Witch
  7. Vampire
  8. “Frozen” characters
  9. A pumpkin
  10. A cat

The 10 most popular costumes for adults are:

  1. Witch
  2. Vampire
  3. Cat
  4. Batman
  5. Ghost
  6. Pirate
  7. Zombie
  8. Nurse
  9. Princess
  10. Doctor and Spider-Man (Tie)

And the 10 most popular costumes for pets are:

  1. Pumpkin
  2. Hot dog
  3. Superhero
  4. Cat
  5. Bumblebee (The insect, not the Transformer)
  6. Ghost
  7. Dog
  8. Witch
  9. Devil
  10. Bat
