Lombard couple finds solution to dining out during pandemic… and it involves their van

When dining options became limited, Doug and Kim White of Lombard came up with a GREAT solution that allows them to still go out and enjoy their favorite meals.  And their solution came on wheels.

They call it, “Van Dining.”  The Whites converted the back their van they dubbed “Mikey Mobile” into a cozy space that’s perfect for dining.  It includes a table with an appropriate plaid tablecloth and seating for two.

The White’s have been documenting their Van Dining meals on Facebook: having visited Mission BBQCourageous BakeryEgghouseBabcock’s Grove House and several more local spots.  They’re open to suggestions and love trying new places!

Doug White, who has been fighting cancer during this pandemic, is heading into chemo next week optimistically declaring, “I’m beating the cancer, good news!”  While he has no set plans for any Christmas visits, he will likely be celebrating with a “tasty” New Years meal in the van.

You can follow the White’s and their van on their Facebook Page, “Van Dining.”  They’re spotlighting all sorts of local cafes and restaurants.  I’m already planning my first visit to Lily’s Cafe and Courageous Bakery Cafe.
