HBO already has an upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, but Entertainment Weekly reports that it wants to do several more of them. One, according to Variety, is already in early development, based on the “Dunk” and “Egg” stories by author George R.R. Martin, about Ser Duncan the Tall and a young Aegon V Targaryen some 90 years before the events in Game of Thrones.
But HBO is also meeting with several top writers pitching other prequel ideas based on Martin’s works, and EW says one being considered is a series based on Robert’s Rebellion, the war for the Iron Throne a couple of decades before the Game of Thrones events. No sequel ideas are being considered.
