Chicago now ticketing drivers $35 to $100 for going 6 or 11 miles over in speed camera zone

Starting today, March 1st, anyone who is caught going 6 to 10 miles over by a speed camera should expect a $35 ticket in the mail.  Even worse, if you’re going 11 miles per hour above the limit, you’ll be ticketed $100!!

This is part of a new initiative by the city of Chicago.  Since January 15th, the city has been issuing warnings about the new rules to drivers who haven’t necessarily gotten the memo yet.  Those warnings are gone now!

I can personally confirm the speed cameras are working.  Last month, one of my immediate family members received one of those warnings; apparently they were going 6 or 7 about the limit.  She was caught on camera in early January and received the warning the next month.

So, those cameras are on and Chicago is issuing tickets.  My advice is be aware if any are on your usual commute.  The locations of Chicago’s speed cameras are publicly known and you can check them all out below!
