The relationship between Mike Myers and Dana Carvey had been strained for years.
It all started when Mike wrote the script for the first “Wayne’s World” movie. He basically ignored Dana’s ideas and relegated his character Garth to a supporting role.
Then, when Mike made “Austin Powers”, he kinda “borrowed” Dana’s impersonation of their “SNL” boss Lorne Michaels for Dr. Evil.
But last year, they resurrected their “Wayne’s World” characters for a Super Bowl commercial, and they’ve been good ever since.
Dana says, quote, “We’ve become very very close friends. The only good thing about getting old is you just, sort of get a little more wisdom, you get a little more perspective and you practice forgiveness for others and for yourself.”
