There were more speed tickets given out than residents in Chicago in 2021

Those speed cameras have really been paying off for the city…

Chicago dished out 2.8 million speed tickets last year; about two-thirds of those tickets came from speed cameras. The tickets generated about $89 million for the city.

Ticket numbers rose with Mayor Lori Lightfoot‘s policy that lowered the speeding target to 6 mph from 10 mph for a $35 ticket.
