Sleep.com teamed up with SleepScores Labs to find out which of the U.S.’ major cities are getting the most and least amount of sleep.
According to the study, Chicagoans are getting more sleep than most major U.S. cities. In fact, Chicago is tied for second place with Washington D.C. at an average of 6 hours and 1 minute of sleep per night. We only saw two locations with a higher average: both Boston and Denver tied with 6 hours and 3 minutes of sleep per night.
Phoenix had the worst sleep average with the people of Phoenix only getting an average of 5 hours and 42 minutes per night.
The CDC recommends the average amount of sleep for adults between 18 and 60 years of age is 7 or more hours per night. So all of our major cities are sleep-deprived!
