Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up again to make a movie about the true story behind Nike salesman Sonny Vaccaro trying to land a partnership with Michael Jordan in the mid-’80s.

At the time, Nike wasn’t so popular: it was a “third place” shoe company. The movie will show Sonny’s relentless efforts to get to Michael by contacting his parents, coaches, advisors, and friends. Interestingly, Jordan will never be seen at all in the movie.
The partnership would eventually go down as one of the most significant in history between an athletic brand and an athlete and lead to the creation of Air Jordans.
Matt will play Sonny, and Ben is set to direct, which will be the first time he’ll direct Damon. Ben will also play Nike co-founder Phil Knight. The project doesn’t have a name yet.
This story was covered in the EXCELLENT Chicago Bulls documentary mini-series, “The Last Dance.” If you haven’t seen it, CHECK IT OUT!!
