Ukrainian family arrived in Chicago after a long journey that took them from Kyiv through Mexico

Things have been tough for the refugees of Ukraine. Quinn Myers of Block Club Chicago detailed the incredible journey of one family that fled war-torn Ukraine to Poland, to Mexico, and finally to Ukrainian Village here in Chicago.

The Okseniuk family was in disbelief when Russia invaded their home country. They fled to Poland with the goal of making it to America. Before the U.S. granted streamlined access to refugees, the family took to a refugee camp in Tijuana where they could be close to the border. As of last month, the Okseniuk family arrived safely in Chicago. Head over to Block Club Chicago to read the full story.

Their story is incredible but not unique as many Ukrainian families turned refugees are looking for shelter and a new place to call home. You can help now through a variety of charities including UnicefUSA.org which has set out to help the children of Ukraine.
