Illinois Sales Tax Holiday Starts Today

It’s back-to-school shopping time and the state is helping out with a tax cut. Shoppers will see the state sales tax of 6.25% cut down to 1.25% on qualifying items.

ABC 7 Chicago has a full list of items, but some of those include school supplies like binders, crayons, and book bags, clothing like coats and jackets, rainwear, and scarves, and footwear like sneakers, sandals, and slippers.

The Illinois Sales Tax Holiday kicks off today (August 5th) and lasts through August 14th.
