FDA warns against eating NyQuil Chicken

The FDA is warning social media users against the latest wild trend: NyQuil chicken.

The “NyQuil Chicken Challenge” involves covering poultry with over-the-counter medication. “Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways,” the FDA warned. Even inhaling the vapors while cooking the chicken could cause harm.

Overdosing on NyQuil can cause seizures, dizziness, or other serious health problems. “When you cook cough medicine like NyQuil, you boil off the water and alcohol in it, leaving the chicken saturated with a super-concentrated amount of drugs in the meat,” Dr. Aaron Hartman said.

If you’re looking for flavor, stick to traditional yummy marinades in the kitchen!
