A new study shows that bats have a much higher vocal range compared to humans. While only a small portion of the population can reach four or five octaves, the “vocal range for a bat spans seven octaves.”
Researchers compared their lower vocal range with “death metal growls” which are a sign of aggression while their high-frequency sounds are used when hunting prey.
