Sheriff’s Office invited people to their Station to help them out… by Getting Drunk

What better way is there to help out local law enforcement than by drinking booze?

Missouri’s Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office put out a call this week for casual drinkers, who’d be interested in having a few adult beverages at the station… for free!

The Sheriff’s Office is doing this to improve their deputies’ field sobriety training. Participants get liquored up, do a field sobriety exercise, and then take a breathalyzer test to determine their level of intoxication.  Then, they get a ride home.

These events are called “wet labs” and police departments periodically do stuff like this to test their skills and fine-tune their DUI-testing procedures.

Naturally, a LOT of people were interested, so the Sheriff’s Office put out an update saying they have all the volunteers they need.  They also clarified that the booze is NOT just cheap bottom-shelf stuff… and that they are NOT using taxpayer funds to buy the alcohol.
