George Michael leads Cyndi Lauper in Neck-And-Neck Fan Vote for Rock Hall of Fame

George Michael and Cyndi Lauper continue to lead the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote – but the gap is shrinking.

LONDON – JULY 02: Singer George Michael performs on stage at “Live 8 London” in Hyde Park on July 2, 2005, in London, England. The free concert is one of ten simultaneous international gigs including Philadelphia, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Barrie, Tokyo, Cornwall, Moscow, and Johannesburg. The concerts precede the G8 summit (July 6-8) to raise awareness for MAKEpovertyHISTORY. (Photo by MJ Kim/Getty Images)

Only 2,000 votes separate the two, with Michael holding a narrow lead over Lauper. Rounding out the top five are Warren Zevon, Iron Maiden, and Soundgarden.

Winning the Fan Vote doesn’t necessarily mean induction into the Hall – the top five artists will be listed on a ‘Fan Ballot’ that gets counted along with thousands of other official ballots.

Fans can vote every day at vote.rockhall.com.  Voting ends April 28th, with the 2023 HOF Class announced in May.
