You soon could be able to eat a meatball made from wooly mammoth… Would you even want to??

An Australian company called Vow has created a meatball made from extinct wooly mammoth meat.

Vow is also investigating the lab-grown potential of other animal meats from alpacas and peacocks.

The idea is to create meat more sustainably. “We’re constantly scouring the earth for unique cells or combination of cells to inspire great new products and even better eating experiences,” their website reads.

The wooly mammoth went extinct 10,000 years ago. Scientists used elephant DNA to fill in missing gene links…a technique used in the fictional creation of dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park film series.
