The foodies behind the Michelin Guide are perhaps best known for awarding coveted Michelin stars to some of the finest restaurants across the globe. But just last month, Michelin inspectors compiled a special list to recognize a more specific category of culinary delights: North America’s best sandwiches.
The guide’s inspectors surveyed everything from chomp-worthy cheesesteaks in Philadelphia to jam-packed tortas in Mexico City, eventually settling on a list of seven scrumptious sandwiches they deemed to be the “best” on the continent.
“While The MICHELIN Guide may be synonymous with Stars, there’s so much more than fine dining in our carefully curated selections,” reads a blurb published alongside Michelin’s sandwich selections.
The Michelin Guide’s complete list, which was presented without ranking, can be found below:
- The Campechano Torta served at La89 in Mexico City
- The Cheesesteak served at Dalessandro’s in Philadelphia
- The Cheesesteak served at Fred’s Meat & Bread in Atlanta
- The Italiano served at Lardon in Chicago
- The Lamb Pita served at Yellow in Washington, D.C.
- The Muffaletta served at Cochon Butcher in New Orleans
- The Pambazo de Carnitas served at La Diabla Pozole y Mezcal in Denver
More information and photos of each sandwich can be found at the Michelin Guide’s official website.
