About Me
I grew up in a small town in Ohio, famous for one thing: Len Dawson, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs — who also happens to be my great-uncle.
While football greatness ran in the family, I had a different goal.
My first gig was in Pittsburgh, where I was somehow put in charge of a party bus headed to a Skid Row show. That’s when I realized two things:
-
This is absolutely the job for me.
-
I should never be in charge of a party bus ever again.
After Pittsburgh came Cleveland, Detroit, and then binge Chicago — landing on Mancow’s Morning Madhouse. Remember the naked billboards with Turd and Cow? Al Roker? And a girl named Heather? Yeah. That was me. Heather.
I survived. Barely.
Next stop: L.A. — where I quickly realized I am not an L.A. girl. Then came mornings in Washington, D.C., which is where television entered the picture. I became the host of Garage Takeover on the Discovery Channel. Yeah… it was kind of a big deal.
My grandma could finally turn on the TV and figure out what the heck I was doing. I’m still not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
Then Chicago came calling again — by pure chance — to work at The Loop. That’s when I knew I was never leaving this city. Ever.
And while I love Chicago, and I love my job at 94.7 WLS, the only thing I love more is my son. He is the reason I’m breathing. He’s the reason I see the world in color instead of black and white. He is my everything.
Travel baseball is a bitch — but I love it.
I love him.
I love this city.
And I love Chicago.
And if you don’t believe it?
You’re just not listening.
So why aren’t you?
Start listening.
