Cubs’ Russell suspended 40 games under domestic violence policy

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell was suspended by Major League Baseball yesterday (October 3rd) for 40 games under its domestic violence policy, after an investigation into allegations by his ex-wife, Melisa Reidy, of years of physical and emotional abuse. Russell has denied the allegations, but accepted the suspension and will participate in an evaluation and treatment program.
