What’s the worst thing you can run into in Lake Michigan?  One kayaker may have answered that question when they encountered a four-foot long caiman alligator.  The sharp-toothed reptile was spotted in the lake just off the shore of Waukegan.  The gator was caught and taken to the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest.

Don’t worry, this isn’t the start of an epidemic.  Lake Michigan gets too cold for alligators to survive.  Do not expect, “Caution: Gators in Water” signs to pop up along Chicago beaches!
