Current U.S. flu season is now the longest in a decade

It might be spring, but it’s still flu season in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says this flu season is the longest in a decade, and officially went on 21 weeks as of last week. This makes it one of the longest seasons since the government began tracking them more than 20 years ago. This long duration is due to a second viral wave, which some experts say is the equivalent of having two different flu seasons compressed into one, back to back. The last time the U.S. saw a flu season about this long was the 2014-2015 season which lasted 20 weeks!
