River Forest is facing an invasion! Deer have been leaving Thatcher Woods to venture into residential areas of the Chicago suburb. Unfortunately, their visits haven’t been without issue. Officials have received more than 60 complaints this year already from citizens facing property damage from deer.
River Forest officials must have seen Bambi because their proposed plan is to institute a sharp-shooter program. Under this program, deer hunters will be allowed to hunt deer on forest preserve land. Moreover, meat from confirmed kills will be donated to a local food pantry. If they go through with this, deer hunting season would kick off on December 1st.
This is probably a way better solution than releasing wolves to control the population…
