The Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees will play a game next summer at the site in Iowa where the 1989 movie Field of Dreams was filmed, Major League Baseball announced yesterday (August 8th). A temporary 8,000-seat stadium will be built at the location in the town of Dyersville for the August 13th game.
A path will be built through a cornfield that will take fans to the stadium, and the right field wall will have windows to show the cornstalks behind it. MLB tweeted a video showing Yankees star Aaron Judge asking Kevin Costner‘s character in the movie, Ray Kinsella, if he was in heaven, and Costner answers with one of the movie’s iconic lines, “No, it’s Iowa.”
